DuraCool could be used as a substitute but it's not really needed. It's
billed as a R12 drop-in replacement, but these days R134a can be used in
pretty much the same manner. The difference is you can "top off" a R12
system with duracool but cannot with R134a. I've done several "conversions"
just by emptying the R12 and filling with 134 and never had a problem. Also,
if doing a R134a conversion on a type 85, I'd suggest adjusting they AC temp
sensor down a bit. Its factory set to something around 48*f so it cuts out
the compressor when the condensor gets to that temp. I set the one on my cgt
to cut out at 33* and never had a freeze-up and had nice ice cold AC...but
even with 33*f vent temps...the AC system on the type 85 is wholly
inadequate when temps get up there.
