I tend to agree.  There's only one way to let in more air, without  
increasing physical area substantially - and that's make it less  
restrictive.

I've seen tests done on various paper and foam filters.  There are  
surprising differences is both flow and in particle filtering. The  
best? GM/Delco. The biggest trader-offer of safety for flow?  Foam.

On normally aspirated motors, the next big wastes of money are chips  
(mostly work on tiurbos for various reasons) and exhausts. Unless  
yours really sucks.  Which it doesn;t.
