Usually temp gauges should be in the middle. Audis tend to run just a tad
over that though. The additional heat from the a/c condensor may be
increasing the temp of the cooling system though. I would flush the cooling
system unless it's been done recently and make sure your coolant is 50/50
coolant and distilled water.

i don't know about your particular model, but usually it should come on if
the gauge is past center. Definitely if the gauge is at 3/4.
