MONDO screwdriver?

Well, I'm glad I went through it. And I have some additions to the
guide:

I pushed a steel cable around the bottom of the heater and made a
loop. Then I put a big wooden block across the engine bay and through
the loop. By lifting one side a bit, then another, then back
again (and so on), the heater box popped out, didn't need any push
from inside. Just watch that the cable doesn't brake any small plastic
stuff.

And if I'm doing it again, I'll probably remove the whole center
console, because this time, when the heater box was in place, I
noticed some gap between it and the main intake air ducts (which were
inside). The access there is quite %$^%$#@, and I didn't notice any
air coming through there, so I left it as is.
