Fuel Tank Vent-

AS far as I know, you better have the fuel changed out, or else the car will
stop dead. Have been told by mechanic that a noisy fuel pump is an
indication to change out fuel pump.

Subject is 87 4kcsq; symptoms are loud fuel pump on
return trips from a place, no bad sounds going to a
place.  First thought was ~$~, $300+ for a fuel pump
for a car that may be worth $300.  It has been
difficult to put gas in the tank lately.  Put the 2
together & wondered if anyone has done a BTDT on fuel
tank vents?  Thought the first thing I would do is
make a usual trip with the gas cap loose & listen for
the fuel pump.  TIA-
