i agree. however there are kits available that use oem parts - osram,
phillips, etc. they tend to be in the 400$ range, but the failure rates for
the chinese made kits seems very high. lots of 'hey my hid burned out' posts
on the forums.

i don't know that i'd go with used oem kits either. from what i've gathered
the lifespan of the ballasts is around 8 years. unless you know they came
off of a very low mileage car, i'd get new / warranty.
