Pilot bearing removal ?

When I R&R'd the clutch on my 200q20v avant, I found the pilot bearing was the encapsulated style as opposed to the open-ended style. That meant there was no opening on the inside end of the bearing housing. That meant the much-recommended removal method of pumping the bearing full of grease and then smacking an inserted pilot bearing tool would not work because the grease couldn't get behind the bearing to push. I ended up buying three different pullers to get one that had small enough arms to get inside the bearing and pull it out. Don't know if that would apply to older engines, but apparently Audi used both types of bearing housings.

bushing replacement in the rear of the crankshaft. Any tips for us ? Didn't
try anything yet.
