Hollow Sound ('86 5kTQ)

I removed servo A illustrated on page 87.15, 87.22 & 87.23 in Bentleys from
under the thin plastic panel behind fire wall. When I moved the servo, the
servo made the same noise when I drive and hits bumps. Servo A controlling
the fresh/recirculation air flap right behind the evaporator coil broke off
from the arch support, which is not illustrated in Bentleys, looks weird in
Bentleys. Since the servo broke off the fresh/recirculation air flap is
always closed to prevent steamy windows when heating. Very difficult to
repair this servo connection. The servo is also called a vacuum motor in
Bentleys. There is a hose connected to the servo controlled leading to
solenoids under right dash from a vacuum chamber.

When I drive I hope I just hope there in no more such noise

It seems the noise is inside the car like tapping an empty 4l plastic milk
jug with a ping pong ball inside.

That's a good idea. It could also be the windshield washer reservoir. On a
22 year old car the mounting is probably very weak, and it may have
crumbled. IIRC it s in the back of the engine compartment, near the
firewall.

Is it inside or outside the car? The ECU is bolted to the inside of the car
right in front of the passenger door. There's a carbon canister and perhaps
a vacuum accumulator behind the right front wheel, under the fender.

When driving and hitting bumps, holes in road I hear a hollow plastic or
metal container jiggling noise in the front right dash area. It is as if
some container is not fastened correctly. When driving on smooth road there
are no such hollow sounds. Any ideas?
