Don't forget about the bumper shocks absorbers! Your bumper is certainly NOT 
bolted to the car, it's attached to a pair of hydraulic cylinders to absorb 
impact forces. They are designed to take forces in one direction and one 
direction only - inward towards the body of the car. I'd bet that any decent 
load vertically would bend them, and the load of the trailer during 
acceleration (especially leaving the launch ramp) would pull them in half.
