ABS Sensor Removal and Replacement

I'm learning all about replacing CV boots, with lots of friendly help
from Audi affectioanatos. Replacing outer boots was well documented
and seems to have worked. I decided to forgo the inner boot
replacement because there was little documentation, the current boots
appear whole and it appears in Bentley that you must press off the
joint, remove the clip, then press on again with special tools. I
did however use the drive shaft bolts that came with the boot kit,
and added some grease to the existing boot.
After I removed the CV joint from the hub I read about removing the
ABS sensor first. On one side there does not appear to be any damage
to the surface, and I was able to twist the unit out by hand before
reassembly. The driver side sensor is frozen in place and when I put
the CV joint back, the cogs were lightly rubbing against the sensor
tip. I pushed and pushed, only managing to dent the tip, but the
sensor will not come out. The rubbing has disappeared.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on removing the sensor? Before I
reassemble the suspension and get an alignment, should I find $75 to
buy one from Shokan,or should I try it and hope the ABS functionality
remains even if dented?
