'86 5KTQ instrument cluster lights out

Thank you Ian for your input and is good to know.

By the trunk light I guess you mean the license plate lights or an actual trunk light to illuminate the trunk?

The glove-box light is good and so are the rear license plate lights as well as the tail lights.

That whole circuit bull-shit is a stupid design if you ask me.

Why would those engineers make such a design?

What's the gain, if any?

Why couldn't they do it the same way they designed the VWs of that same era. I have a VW Quantum Syncro and the whole glove box, light and all is out to inspect the AC/ evaporator and the dash light are just fine. Hell, the license plate light and hatch lid was also out a couple of years back, and the dash lights were still just fine.

The Audi 5KTQ is some 300 miles away at my brother's house and probably will be going there again this weekend to see if I can finally sort out the problem based on all the suggestions.

Thank you again.

Louis
