Oil Cooler

Hi Max, I went to a junk yard here in Fort Lauderdale Fl. and found two '87 Audi 5000 and one '89 Audi 100, which is the same Type 44. All three non-turbo and automatics with the oil coolers still attached to them.

The oil cooler in the '89 was a little bent as if car was bumped into something. The stainless? Steel braided oil lines were almost perfect, except for a couple of tiny surface rust spots.

The oil lines on one of the '87s appeared to be in very good shape, albeit one of the lines had a squeezed in spot.

The other '87 had a bypass made out of one of the same oil lines. I bought this set for $8.80 (the housing that attaches to the engine block and to which the oil filter attaches) and the bypass oil line for $2.65.  The oil line was billed as an "oil line" and, thus, I assume is the same price for one that is complete running from the housing to the oil cooler. 

I bought this set up to build a hybrid--flange the bypass lines and hook up rubber hoses with clamps to either an after-market oil cooler or that of Mercedes Benz turbo diesel from the late 80s. The oil cooler from said MBs is huge compared to the Audi one.   

As for the rest of the stuff I found, there were no leaks on either oil coolers or oil lines.

As for the turbo-charged type 44 cars, those are a real rarity here in South Fl. junk yards.
