That is correct, Ed, but there's more:

Mercedes and Porsche will get you the parts for any model that they have
ever made, as long as you don't mind paying for it- sometimes a small
fortune.

BMW does the same (I think)- they built a 2002 a couple years ago from spare
parts.

Ferrari will do the same as well.

That's the big problem I have with Audi- when I had my 200q20v, parts were
available. Now, you can't hardly get anything for a type 44.

As for service (short of a full-on restoration), I don't know- I don't think
most dealerships are equipped to deal with very old models of the same make-
I doubt you could go to a Mercedes dealership and have them diagnose issues
with the mechanical fuel injection on a '54 300SL.

If Audi and VW didn't have their attitude toward supplying customers with
parts for the older cars, I would have bought a C4 S6 and would still have
that now.
