<< Re: trouble getting injectors out >>

Thanks guys for all the help. Here's the update from today...

I did get all the injectors out yesterday by applying heat from a heat gun to about 250 degrees (IR temp gun works great for this). I had been using a 24 inch pry bar as a lever with no luck. With heat applied, each of them came out with a bang as the larger o-ring broke into two pieces. Still required the 24 inch bar to get them out. The o-ring was hard like glass and all of them broke into two pieces and both stayed with the injector body. I did remove the fuel lines with the injectors in place and as one heats the injectors, they squirt residual fuel out like a little geyser. The tool fits in a groove under the threads.

Good news is that all the brass inserts retained the plastic shroud and came out in one piece. Just had to pick the square o-ring out at the bottom. New inserts installed last night. Today the rest of it goes back together.

I probably won't have to do this job again but at least the new injectors with the vitron o-ring ought to come out easy if ever needed.

Thanks again!
