May have missed this but could it not just be the torque converter? If it was driven at full throttle with the brakes applied for any great length that could have easily burnt it up. I guess it could have burnt up bands in the transmission too. Surely there has to be at least one good V8 transmission sitting somewhere besides Shokan?
