I don't know whether the '86 has the light control relay.  I suspect it
does.  Yes, you must remove the glove box.  About a 5 minute job, maybe
less.
I don't look for much success changing the dimmer/trip computer.  It
didn't work for me.  Ditto the H/L switch.
