Glove Box 'brake' & Switch

I sent this question to the A4 List yesterday, but no reply yet. Anyone 
on this list have an answer?

I just received the Glove Box light Switch & 'brake' to replace the old
one on my 2002 A4, which was getting too 'slow' & on the verge of
seizing, a common problem, according to an Audi TSB. My problem is that
the moving part is 'locked' into the barrel of the brake chamber.  I
cannot find any relevant info in my Bentley & I cannot figure out how to
release it so that it moves in & out.

Anyone with experience???
