I've replaced the fuel lines on a V8 and on one 200q20v. There are fittings just where the fuel lines turn up to go to the engine compartment. Lines above those fittings have remained basically uncorroded on all six of the big body Audis I've had. It's the ones running along under the car that rust out. I've been able to make the connections at the rear work and just replace the lengths running under the cars.
First time out I used steel line from a FLAPS. Very difficult to get right, hard to put the proper ISO bubble flare on the ends, but relatively inexpensive.
Last time, I used "Cunifer" copper-nickel lines from http://www.fedhillusa.com/?page=cunifer Worked out quite a bit better. You can open the stainless retainer fixtures and reuse the rubber supports if you're really careful (and maybe a bit lucky). I used a flat-bladed screwdriver bent into a right-angle inserted into the slot in the stainless hoop to open them up, as well as to pry the ends together so they'd lock up again.

We picked up a NY based 1991 20 V Avant. The car made the 3.000 mile
drive back flawlessly. The car, being located in the Hamptons for a
while, has a few rust issues, nothing really severe except for the fuel
lines. Has anyone ever changes the complete set of lines, and any
caveats to offer?
