Ignition switch?

What does it do when it won't start?

Do you hear a click from the starter?
Do you get dash lights?
Do you hear any relays clicking inside the car?
Does it do absolutely nothing?

Observing some of these things might help guide the pursuit one way or
another.

Hello Everyone,

I have an '03 Passat, V6, 5SPM. Every now and then the car just does not
start when I turn the key. If I turn the ignition off and try again, then it
usually starts. I suspect the ignition switch. The battery is also the
original. I remember reading on this forum that some Audi models (A6?) like
to have their ignition switch replaced regularly. Does anyone know which
model(s) is (are) that? I would like to compare the ignition switch part
numbers in the FA, this car could have the same switch.
