alternator issues

Sounds like an alternator issue.  Break out the VOM.... read voltage with
everything off.  It should be 12.5 Volts at the battery posts.  With the
engine on, it should be 14.5 (give or take a few tenths) volts.  If not,
check at higher RPM (1000 +) to see if that makes any difference.

In other words, don't trust the dash cluster.
