Robby.....I repaired two car seats using leather patches and a urethane
adhesive called Shoe Goo, available at many sporting goods stores. The
patches were cut from old leather coats acquired at the Goodwill for a
dollar or two.

Joggers use Shoe Goo to get more miles out of their running shoe soles. Cut
the leather patch to overlap the fabric/leather defect by about an inch.
Spread the goo on with a popsicle stick. Press on the patch, smooth it
down, and wipe away any goo that creeps past the edges. The urethane cures
in a few hours and remains flexible. The goo would also hold a piece of
foam rubber in place. Don't get it on your fingers.....wear disposable gloves.

Both repairs were to the vertical bolsters on the driver side, which wear
where the driver slides across while entering and exiting the car. Each
repair lasted about 3 years, and one was renewed to go several more.
