Passat 1.8T with more than coil problems

I replaced all 4 of mine in an 18-month period, including 2 of them twice (fortunately at no charge for those 2). As Ti
said, I received a letter about 2 months ago, and a follow-up earlier this month, to have them checked. I haven't bothered
since none of mine are original, but HAVE sent the details and copies of the paperwork to Audi with a request for reimbursement
of the approximately $1,000 I spent having them replaced. Haven't heard anything back yet.

My friend's 2002 Passat 1.8T 4-mo 5 sp seems to be eating coils.

He had #2 blow, replaced.

Now #3, replaced.

Now another.

Any ideas?
