metering the output to snails pace - so perhaps with fewer "I'll do it
for you" gadgets and a proper power delivery system - they may have been
better off.

Electronic engine power cut off is very annoying and the throttle angle
doesn't matter (drive by wire - feels almost disabled). On ice, ASR
(anti-slip) on 2WD is totally useless. With good traction (winter tires),
though, it never kicks in. I turn it off (1.8T bug) before driving up my
steep-ish driveway when the snow's deep. Spin some wheels but still move.

to mat the gas in slippery conditions

Nothing wrong with that, when in doubt floor it ;o) But you know that,
Vittorio, you're a rally man. Just turn off the electronic junk. Or better
yet - old school quattro, LSDiff or good tires. Anyone selling cheap
Quaiffe or Peloquin for VW 02J? In a pinch a plate diff would do, too ;o)
