A week or so ago I finished swapping a used transmission into my newly
aquired 1998 (C4) A6 Avant. I am not a real fan of auto boxes, but
this car was a really good deal. I have the Bentley DVD manual, but I
can't find a chart of shift points for this particular transmission.
The transmission takes a while to shift from 2nd to 3rd even at a
constant speed around 35-40 mph. I nearly have to lift off to force
an upshift. At 65 mph I am turning 3200 RPM. Netiher of these seem
right. I thought this first problem could be an adaptive tuning
issue, the second I was worried the torque converter wasn't locking.
Does anyone who has this car have any insight to offer? Is this
behavior normal? Also if someone know where the shift chart is in the
manual please let me know.
I have the shareware version of VAG-COMM and I downloaded the
following DTC information from the previous transmission. I have
again tried searching the DVD and am turning up things like cylinder
#12 ignition low. I know I don't have 12 cylinders. I know I am
somehow interpreting these numbers wrong. I am going to contact
Bentley, but if anyone has any BTDT I would be very happy to hear it.
These are the codes I got. Two are sort of decoded by the software:
VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S
Control Module Part Number: 4A0 927 156 AL
Component and/or Version: AG4 01F 2.8l2V USA D27
Software Coding:
Work Shop Code:

Thank you for the help!
