$600 for a compression test? A bit pricey, methinks, maybe I should go into that business?

If this were my car AND I trusted the diagnosis of the shop, I'd be looking for two things:

1) A used engine, and

2) someone else to install it.

I bought my first airplane under very similar circumstances - mechanic did a compression test, made
the female owner a low-ball offer for her "junk" airplane, she said if I would match the offer I
could have it, she just didn't want him to get it, so I did. One cylinder later, I flew it away.

Moral - buy nothing, ever, from any authorized Audi dealer. Buy your parts elsewhere, and absolutely
get your service done by someone else!!!!
