License plate mounting -- help!

I did improve the same problem on my Type 44, there was a wooden board
between the plastic panel and the license plate.
I think your square holes in which the plastic push nuts are pushed into
have enlarged. If so then use some liquid plastic to repair the holes so
they are like original again. There are 2 plastics when mixed will turn
hard. I did that about 4 years ago. Insert new plastic nuts. I used M6 Allen
screws. I framed the license plate with a plastic frame from my mechanic.

Subject: License plate mounting -- help!
When closing the tailgate on my 1999.5 A4 Avant yesterday, the license plate
came off the car. Not surprising, exactly; the metal clips in the fiberglass
tailgate panel looked like they enlarged the holes over 10 years. Anyway,
short of replacing that fiberglass panel (if it's even possible), does
anyone have any suggestions for how to go about mounting the plate? I'd like
a solution that doesn't involve permanently attaching the plate to the car
(i.e. adhesives). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
