A6 4.2L - pros and cons?

Oh, how I know that engine well. I had a '96 Discovery with a 4.0
litre Buick cum Rover GEMS engine, aka LUCAS electronics. Believe me,
it was no gem. Ran well until about 115K, then the issues came into
play. CEL's, misfires, and of course, the leaking heads. Ran the
truck to 138K, traded it in for my A4.
