A6 4.2L - pros and cons?

Sort of on the subject- Buick replaced the aluminum V8 with an odd-fire V6, based on the same plans. It would appear that it was engineered by "bean counters" & was of cast iron. The main engineering after casting in arn & dropping 2 cylinders was to invent some sort of engine mount that could hold on to this paint-mixer of an engine. GM sold that engine to whoever owned Jeep @ the time, only to buy it back years later. After a while they came out with an "even-fire" version of it, with a really odd-looking crankshaft with offset rod journals. Of course, this meant that the crankshaft wasn't as strong as the odd-fire. Still, they were able to get lots of life out of that & may still be using it.
