Has anybody out there had anything to do with the early 100LS Audis? Anybody notice the extra-long bleeders on the calipers in the ad? Know why? It's obvious in the other picture that the front brakes are inboard, next to the transmission. Less unsprung weight- OK. Know what it takes to deal with the front brakes? They're up around the steering rack; dealing with them, have the engine as cold as possible, because person performing the operation will be in contact with it. Anyway, one gets such nice color from the brake dust in the face from changing the pads. Back to the extra-long bleeders; they're up there on the calipers, of course, I love the taste of brake fluid in the morning- it tastes like- brake fluid.
Another little quirk- the brakes are on the transmission & brake torque goes to the engine+transmission unit & torques it during a stop.
SURPRISE!! The engine mounts are long rubber things & the engine hangs on them.
There are stories of the engine falling onto the road & the car running over it; hate it when that happens.
