You think the Treser Roadster looks like an El Camino? Check out what I
found when I snuck around the back of the Neckarsulm facility.

Thanks Eric. I was trying to dig up my copy of the book to scan a few
  images.

Perhaps using the word "ugly" isn't appropriate. It was attractive to me
when it was new. It's aged much better than I expected too. I think the
lines of the Coupe S are far nicer than the sedan. In its day it was a
very
elegant car and the ride was fantastic. Handling was.....well, average at
best. FWD was still pretty uncommon in mainstream sedans and the 100 LS
had
  some quirks.

I saw this one in Ingolstadt:
http://5000tq.com/audifanspics/Ingolstadt/DSCN2988 a few years ago at the
Quattro 25 cellebration. Even at an event where rare Audis were all
around,
this one attracted a lot of attention.

Pics of said testbed can be found not too far down the page here:

...just below pics of one in Greece with urq ronals. I've seen
several 100S coupes in person, and they are gorgeous, even if the
styling isn't all that original. Didn't someone (John on the 20V
list?) claim that one of those 928 testbeds is still running around So
  Cal?

   +1

It's so ugly that I want it.

The first time I saw one of these was in the pages of Project 928:
   http://www.amazon.com/Project-928-Development-History-Production/dp/B0007AP8BO
where Porsche used the body of one to disguise the 928 drivetrain so they
could test on open roads secretly.
