Decision time

Recall that the Japanese enthusiastically adopted the statistically based
quality control methods of Deming following the Second World War.
The Germans felt no such humility and, to this day, German engineers
still confidently design and German manufactures confidently build
automobiles mainly on the strength of the superior German ego. Since the
real world is nothing compared to German smarts, there is actually no
need to test German products or to monitor German build quality.
And don't forget the European service model: the customer is
always wrong.

Thus German reliability is below that of Ford and GM, never mind Lexus.
Yet, somehow, the Germans understand how an automobile ought to "feel."
Damn them.
