MFTS Install and/or Thermostat 91 200 TQM 10V

Greetings!  I have an MFTS coming in on Saturday.  Wondering if there is
anything special I need to know in replacing this sensor?  What is the best
way to clean the contacts for the connection on it?   I'm noticing my car
temp gauge will work sometimes when I am going 'slow' ... on highway the
reading is very cold (left side of the gauge sweep)...but stop and go
usually will show a 'true' reading.  I hope the MFTS will fix the reading
issues... then it is a matter of do I need a thermostat or not?  Is there
anything tricky on doing the thermostat on this car?  I have the Bentleys
for reference as required..but the BTDT's tend to be more helpful
