Max - I didn't catch year and model of your car, but since you posted to the
S List, I'm assuming it is an S car.
On my '95 S6 Avant, the pad warning light is a circle, with dashes around
it, not a triangle. When your pads are warn, or the wires are corroded (as
some have mentioned), the circle will be on all the time (it will only flash
if you are getting another warning, like low washer fluid, and then the
flashing is back and forth between the two ).
I did have the flashing red triangle in a 5000 I used to own. While I don't
remember the exact problem that it is supposed to denote, it's not pad wear.
My issue in that car was a warn sensor on one of the wheels for the
anti-lock system. I can't tell you more, because my wrench was the person
who tracked it down after much hair pulling, and it was 5 years and a couple
of cars ago.
My S6 owner's manual has no triangles listed, but there is a listing for a
circle with an ! inside it for Canada models. This denotes your brake fluid
is low or there is another problem with the brake system.
Check your brake fluid and hydraulic fluid.
Tom 95 S6 Avant (rockin' the pad wear indicator 24-7 and not due to bad
pads)
