That's pretty much it - clean the wheel properly, apply proper "goo"
before seating tire.
Seriously, I haven't had a single low-leaker since I started mounting my
own tires. Next door they have tricky-slicky tools for cleaning rims,
and at least two "goos" (for steel and aluminum rims).
Some Honda tech mounted some tires for me a few months back and managed
to give me my first slow leak in ages ;) No names, no foul. Should
have done it myself.
