blinker works hazard lights

Just like an Audi, the turn signals started working again on their own.

My guess is as follows:  his windshield broke when a storm knocked a
branch on to it. He took his time getting if fixed, during one of the
rainiest Junes in memory. My guess is water got into something, causing
the turn signals to act like hazards.  With the windshield replaced,
things dried out and the turn signal started behaving itself.
