I made a temp heat shield with some aluminium foil that i stole from the
kitchen......
I can get the new pipe away from the exhaust (it's not that close, but it
does get warm under there with the sump guard
The condition really does only "come on" in heavy traffic. Cold it's fine.
Clutch is a VR6 unit that Louis-Alain and I threw in there less than 15k
miles ago and the 02J gearbox was rebuilt with a quaife in February.

re: Hose running near exhaust- I've seen occasions where the fluid is boiled
by being too near a heat source= doesn't function. Maybe for the time being
you could make some sort of heat shield? In any case, if you make a new
line, could you route it away from heat sources?
