Limited AC, but all VAG - Clutch Hydraulics.

New MC was an improvement, but not a cure. The old one was from a scrap yard
in Coventry that came across in my dad's luggage then sat in a cupboard for
a year before fitting.......

As i mentioned somewhere, it's fine when cold, but gets worse in heavy
traffic.

The OEM RHD tube was solid where it ran across the firewall so that was part
of my thinking regarding the heat.
There's a 4-2-1 tubular stainless manifold in there and not huge amounts of
places for hot air to get out of the engine bay, especially if it's crawling
down an overloaded highway in 1st!

Was the symptom the same both before and after the MC replacement? You could
have gotten a bad MC.

Unless the pedal goes completely hard, or the hose swells up when you press
the pedal,  then I think you need to re-think that theory about the hose, it
sounds more like the master cylinder is shot.

exhaust. In heavy traffic, i think that heat soak is causing the hose to
soften and absorb some of the hydraulic pressure that should be pushing the
slave.
