Audi 200 voltage

I agree. On my 1983 urQ, I did replace a perfectly good OEM 90A Bosch
alternator for no reason, because I had the infamous ALT bulb glowing dimly.
Turned out all urQ do that, mainly because of grounding issues in the
cluster. Dammm...

Two years later, same story as you : took the urQ into a foot-deep snow
bank, and Bingo, alternator dead. Replaced under warranty.

Then last fall, that very same rebuilt alternator blew its voltage regulator
which was badly corroded, but perfect otherwise. A 35$ Bosch regulator was
all needed.

It might be interesting to work out who has had to replace their alternator
and how often then correlate that to geography and seasonal white stuff +
salt on the roads.

It always seemed to me that having the alternator where it is on most audi
5pot turbos was a bit suicidal given that they are supposed to be "go
anywhere in any conditions"
