Engine: 2400$ complete
trans: 1300$
propshaft: 250$
rear diff: 100$

All this assumes reasonable miles for the year and a  modest warranty.
Prices adjustable for other conditions, but there's a ballpark for him.

PS: hopefully he's ok from a hit like that!
