Parting a car Question

I did a Coupe 2 years ago. The car was naked (no doors, no hood, no trunk,
no glass, no interior) but it was rolling on its wheels, the
engine/transmission was still there and I left the steering wheel so I was
able to direct it to the flatbed.

They did not bother, they came and left with it for free.

I was going to send my 4kq to the crusher if no one wanted it for free. I
did not want to part because I am too busy, and I do not think my neighbors
would be into it.

My question is how complete does a car need to be to go to the crusher. If
they will just take the shell, I might part it, there is still some value
there.
