Knock sensors for 20v

Since a knock sensor is a microphone, could it be tested by gently knocking
on it with the handle of a screwdriver and see if the timing is retarded ?

You can measure the resistance between the three pins on the knock
sensor. You should get infinite resistance between any and all pins.
Anything other than infinite means the sensor is bad.

I suspect a faulty knock sensor as I hear a rhythmic pinging noise when
the 
revs approach 3000 rpm, easing off the gas stops the pinging
Is there a simple test to pick which one is faulty.
