Aaand we have the opposite of success, BUT I did get more information. I
have discovered the the transmissions oil pump is not functioning. I filled
the trans to running level with the engine not running, then started it and
the level did not change. What should have happened is the pump sucks in
some fluid, the level goes down, and I add 2 more liters then drive to
lunch.
I know that the valve body would simply not have worked as it was, so that
was a good first step anyways. Now step 2 is pull the trans and remove the
oil pump. I assume that I'm either going to find it's intake clogged, it's
pressure relief stuck open, or a REALLY big bit of the trans filter got
sucked in and sheared the key off and the pump needs to be replaced. What I
fear is that there is nothing obvious and I have to re-install the whole
trans to test whatever something(s) I do repair. Removing this trans looks
like no small task.
