Thermostat on '95 A6Q

Hi guys, 

 

I got a '95A6Q (2.8) that needs a thermostat done. I got the part, but I
popped the hood and could not locate where the thing actually is. I traced
the cooler pipes, but they lead to the back of the block and dive under the
heads (could they find a worse place to put it?!) Anyway, can someone point
me to a decent write-up (pictures are a plus) on how to do a T-stat change
on this car?
