Checking the wiring first; bridge the contacts in the plug. Failing
that, remove the tank and use a multimeter to test the float switch.
You may be able to get some sort of access to the switch contacts
without completely detaching the tank...or by removing the wheel well
liner and coming at it from the bottom.
Removing the tank will have the advantage of letting you clean it (I'd
recommend a bucket full of hot water with dish soap added after
filling...and a long soak) but the bottom hose is liable to be firmly
molded/attached to the tank.

The problem with malfunctioning warning devices is that you no longer
know when the system they were monitoring has truly failed. That's
not good, particularly when you just find you're a litre down on
coolant.
