For some reason, the company that makes one of our tape libraries at
work specifies a special oxygen-safe, does-not-react-with-anything
grease for the robotic arm worm gears. It comes in a syringe with
2cc's; about the volume of 3-4 m&ms or so. $80. A quart of it
(un-discounted for volume) would cost around $37,000. That's about
half a GT-R :)
I thought that was ridiculous and tried looking up alternate suppliers
via the information on the invoice, and was shocked to see that the
price we're getting is (apparently) below-market for this quantity by
a good margin.
