How to remove Fuel Pump?

I think the fuel pump for this model is removed by pressing three tabs 
which hold the pump assembly it in its basket. Is this correct?
And, how do you do that using just one hand? Will the tabs stay 
unlocked if you do them one at a time?

This model has a different basket for holding the fuel pump. Removal 
requires a special tool to untwist the fuel pump assembly from its basket.
Can the pump be removed without the special tool? How?
