Motor won't start after Timing Belt & Cam Adjuster gasket replacement (2.8 30v)

This is exactly what I've run into. The first time I did tensioner
gaskets on one, it actually scared me between the long cranking time
and the noise. However, it will eventually start, make a LOT of noise,
and smoke a bit. After 5 seconds or so of running, all is well. BTDT
probably 50+ times now (30V V6's and 1.8T's).
