Regarding my experience with gremlins (and re-do's), it might be the last
thing you did, ie the rear CV-joint.

Otherwise...

1) when my prop shaft went out it made noise in off-load situations.

2) when my suspension parts went, the made thunking noises when turning
combined with fwd-rev changes.

3) Aha, now I remember! When I had drumming noises it was TREAD SEPERATION!
Invisible initially, additional miles finally produced the final diagnosis.
