New project - shocks

'90 80 non-Q, 2WD 

Now that I have replaced the sway bar links, the ride isn't as smooth as I would like.
Any suggestions for shocks that offer a nice soft ride for an older couple.
I have looked at Monroe's Sena-trac , "ultimate comfort with added control". 
They also have gas charged shocks, economy types.

Anyone have any experience with any brand that offers good handling with a good smooth ride? 
Koni, Bilsteins are way out of my budget.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
