Speedometer Disassembly

I took a picture of the disassembled guts of the V8 odo unit. I took the moving
part of the motor out and didn't find it this morning, but it fits in the round
cavity in the piece on the right side of the picture, and the gears engage the
clear plastic gear built into the housing on the left side of the picture.

If I find the motor with damaged gears (it is a planetary gear set) I'll take a
picture and upload. As you can see, it is possible to disassemble the
speedo/odo gauge on the V8, and as far as I know the one I repaired is still
working ... but since you cannot buy a new gear there's no guarantee how long a
repaired unit will last. I'd recommend that you replace the speedo/odo
wholesale ...
